Kirsten and Elisabeth are 17 year old identical twins. I (Kirsten) am older, by four minutes. Though contrary to popular belief, it hardly counts for anything. We take several college courses post-secondary at a Christian university, though we are technically only juniors in high school.
I plan to go into Early Childhood Education at a Christian University in Mount Vernon, Ohio. They have a strong early education program, and the facilities are very nice and offer great opportunities. With the post-secondary classes, and CLEP courses we are taking, I should be able to get out of 2 and 1/2 years from my 5 year degree out of the way. So I'd cut out almost half of college and save thousands of dollars. I dread leaving my cat Smith behind, though.
Smith Wigglesworth (I will explain the name choice later) is my 19 pound, long haired fluffy tuxedo cat who brings pens and pencils in his mouth like a dog who fetches (he sees me using them frequently, so he assumes I'd want them).
For my future, I adamantly believe that the Lord has called me to adopt as many orphaned children (particularly in Eastern Europe/Asia) as I (and my future husband) possibly can. There are millions of unwanted children, many of whom are abandoned or aborted. I realize that this may mean I end up with 13-15 orphans, but I'm okay with that...it's not even a drop in the bucket compared to many orphans are out there.
Elisabeth plans to go into Social Work at college, and eventually go to Thailand to rescue prostitutes and human-trafficking victims.
Both of our parents are mental health professionals. Both have been counselors/therapists at some point or other. Mom has her own counseling practice, TransitionLife Counseling, and Dad is a Bereavement Coordinator at Hospice of Cincinnati. Mom and Dad have both been adjunct professors at Mount Vernon Nazarene University in the Cincinnati branch teaching Psychology and Sociology.
In our family, it is a tradition that each pet we take into our home have a namesake of an early church leader, martyr, reformationist, or revivalist. We had cats named Evan Roberts, Cathrine Von-Bora Luther, Duncan Campbell, Jessie Penn Lewis, and Smith Wigglesworth. We had guinea pigs named Theophilus and Polycarp, and hampsters named Lady Huntington and Count Von Zinzendorf. If you get a chance, I would recommend doing some reasearch on those people--they are fascinating.
